ICLEI Africa and eThekwini Municipality are proud to present the first technical Southern Africa Regional workshop for cities and local governments on the Durban Adaptation Charter (DAC) convened under the auspices of the Local Climate Solutions for Africa Initiative. The workshop is set to build and strengthen local government officials’ knowledge and understanding of the DAC. All sessions are designed in a way that is highly interactive to promote networking and sharing of the latest information between top technical experts on climate change in Africa and municipality level officials.
Each day will consist of a number of plenary and parallel interactive sessions around key steps of the DAC and capacity building and technical training sessions facilitated by Former USA Vice President, Mr Al Gore’s Climate Reality Group, which will focus on climate change communication and messaging in the African context, all in anticipation of an agreement at COP21 in Paris in December 2015.
Primarily aimed at accelerating local climate action, the workshop is suitable for officials with the authority for making day-to-day decisions on planning for, implementing, reporting on, designing programmes, or accessing financing to mainstream and address climate change.
Registration is open, the registration fee is US$ 544 which covers conference materials, field visits, meals and events indicated on the programme.
