The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, in collaboration with the National Department of Environmental Affairs, GIZ, and UCT (CSAG) is looking to conduct a review of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial climate change risks and vulnerabilities. This will lead to the development of the Provincial Climate Change Strategy, as well as a Response Implementation Plan.
The Province of KwaZulu-Natal developed a Status Quo Analysis Study in 2009, aimed at assessing climate change vulnerabilities within the Province. A draft Provincial Climate Change Action Plan which was premised on the findings of this study was then produced in 2014. Seven years later, much has changed due to the dynamic nature of our climate as well as the impact on human activities induced by frequent and intense changes, as a result of global warming. Based on this reality, the Provincial Department is convening this workshop to initiate these discussions.
The Department therefore cordially invites all stakeholders to assist this process through participating in the first of the two planned workshops on Thursday 10 November 2016.The input will further shape the Provincial Climate Change Adaptation Strategy as well as give guidance to the Response Implementation Plan.
Attendance and contribution to this process will be highly welcomed.
