A funding opportunity exists through the International Climate Initiative (IKI). The IKI supports climate and biodiversity projects in developing countries, emerging economies and transition states. It aims to fund high-quality projects that are sufficiently innovative or have sufficiently ambitious climate protection and biodiversity conservation goals to promote transformative change. The IKI funds projects in the following areas:
1. Mitigating greenhouse gas emissions
2. Adapting to the impacts of climate change
3. Conserving natural carbon sinks with a focus on reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation
4. Conserving biological diversity
